Chapter 4 – That Silhouette
That Silhouette
Author: Anydinh
Among the billions of people on this Earth, meeting someone is already a kind of fate. But to meet and fall in love—that is a different kind of destiny altogether.
In the rush of the crowd, I met you—a girl sitting alone, crying in a quiet corner of the street.
Something stirred in my heart, a feeling of sorrow. I walked toward you, gently sat down, pulled a tissue from my pocket, and handed it to you.
You looked up, took the tissue, thanked me quietly, and then continued to cry.
I don’t really know why I didn’t just leave. I stayed there with you, by your side, until you returned home.
The second time I saw you, you were holding onto a guy’s hand, trying to make him stay—but he pushed you down. You were hurt, and yet he indifferently held another girl’s hand and walked away.
Again, I don’t know why—but something rose up in me, a strong urge to shield and protect you.
I walked over, helped you up, gently wiped your wound. When I heard your soft cry of pain, my heart ached. I didn’t expect you to recognize me—the stranger who sat with you that day.
I don’t know whether it was coincidence or fate, but every time we crossed paths, it seemed to be during one of your most heartbreaking moments.
And I don’t know exactly when it happened, but we became close. You opened up to me, shared your pain. And somehow, at some point along the way, my heart began to beat for you.
You, the fragile and gentle girl whom I’ve come to love—whom I want to protect for a lifetime. Thank you, life, for letting me meet you—the girl of my dreams.
