Chapter 2 – If There’s a Next Life, I’d Still Choose You as My Wife
If There’s a Next Life, I’d Still Choose You as My Wife

My wife,
If there’s a next life, I would still want to meet you again, still want to love you one more time, still want to hold your hand through life’s journey—no matter how long or short, whether it’s filled with happiness or challenges and hardships.
I don’t know how fate will arrange things for us. I don’t know why, out of countless paths, in some miraculous way, I found you in this vast world. I believe that what is meant to be will always find its way back—no matter how many lifetimes it takes.
I remember those early days with you—your eyes clear like an autumn lake, your smile gentle like a cool breeze on a sweltering summer day. You were like a soft melody that slipped into my soul, and from that moment on, I could never forget you.
We’ve argued, we’ve had our moments of anger, times when it felt like we couldn’t go on. But through it all, we’re still here—still holding hands, still calling each other by those sweet names from the very beginning.
I don’t know if there really is a next life. But if there is, I hope I’ll find you again among the sea of people. I’d still want to go through peaceful days and storms with you.
I’d still want to wake up with you in the early morning, prepare a simple meal together, and chat about silly little things. I’d still want to see you laugh at some ridiculous story I tell. I’d still want to grow old with you—our hair touched with silver, but our hearts forever faithful like they were at the start.
So, if there’s a next life, please wait for me.
Wait for me to find you again,
to love you again,
and once more call you “my wife.”
